Blade and Soul Class Guide to Assassin

bns_assassin_03Assassins specialize in death traps, smoke bombs and other forms of stealth attack. They do not dominate the battlefield with their big, burly build and defensive skills are not among their strongest suit. Instead, they come at you from behind (oftentimes, literally) when you least expect it. Rather than an in-your-face approach to killing, they deliver damage with cunning and carefully calculated techniques.

That is not to say that assassins are always on the advantage nor can they be classified as the best class in either PvE or PvP arena. Blade & Soul classes are all uniformly strong and, in fact, you can make any class work for you. When you choose Assassin, you’ll have to employ a potent mix of cleverness and speed. An Assassin is capable of baffling even the most quick-witted of foes with its maddening ability to manipulate its presence by teleportation, invisibility or through other devious means.

If Assassin is your chosen blade and soul class, there are some things you need to master.

Two States United

As an assassin you could play in either stealth or unstealthed states. While it is tempting to stealth most of the time, and by all means you should do so as much as you possibly can as it is your main mode of defence, unstealthing is key in certain scenarios. For instance, just before your poison stack runs out – for which having 5 is ideal – go on unstealth mode before your stash is fully diminished and make sure to re-stealth when you can. Unstealthed is when you’re most vulnerable but it can’t always be avoided.

Make no mistake: assassins work best solo. Mastering what they can do as lone fighter is, therefore, essential. But whether you’re using an assassin for solo or group play, knowing what skills they have and what they can do ensures you’re making the most of an assassin class build in either setting.

Heart StabBasic Skills for the Kill

Assassins have basic skills and some killer skills. Knowing which of these to use and when is extremely valuable. Learning when to choke, grab and seize could be mightier than plain old aggression which is how other classes operate. If you’re using the Assassin, these are some skills you’ll be using:

Mist slash is your typical initial basic attack. It lets you apply poison on to the enemy and can deal critical damage at an opportune time. The level of damage dealt by a slash complements the Heart Stab which you will be wise to dish after a hefty slashing session. As previously mentioned, implanting 5 stacks of poison on the enemy is best, as it deals the severest amount of damage whether you’re in PvP or PvE.

Compounding the mist slash’s damage is Back Stab which heightens the poison content already on the enemy. Naturally, you back stab while on stealth and you do it from behind. Cooldown from the damage caused by a back stab can even be reduced to ensure the enemy takes time to soak up the poison.

Poison is to an assassin what sword is to a Blade Master, so you will notice that it’s quite prominent among the assassin’s utilities. A poison’s damage is crucial in increasing and quickening damage, and another skill that is useful to its effects is Poison Moth. It disarms the enemy basically and can do any of the following damages: multiply the effects of poison and remove enemy’s ability to guard. Ideally, you use the poison moth as prelude to your main kill.

At some point, you would have to engage in a more hands-on attack. Shadowless Step, also done while on stealth, is best performed behind your target and allows you to tiptoe around the enemy as life draws out of him.

Final Thoughts

It’s no secret that the Assassin lacks counter attack and defense skills. It is then highly beneficial to an assassin player to be constantly in control of the enemy, ie, having them exactly where he can hit them the strongest and to have good weapon. You can even consider buy blade and soul gold for it. On the upside, assassins are more than amply skilled in crowd control which gives them great leverage in dishing out poison and whatnot. And while completely capable of causing great harm to its targets, assassins are mostly able to do so while on stealth.

Assassins are also known to have relatively extraordinary gameplay capacity for healing and regeneration, which somehow makes up for their lack of weak defenses. Some will see this particular lack as a huge detriment to using assassin, but the thing is, an Assassin can work just as well in any given setting, whether solo or group if you take the time to learn what they can do.

Finally keep an eye on your bleeds and poison stack and you should do well in leveling. There’s plenty to know about this class and if you know their full potential – and they’re capable of a lot – a supposed weakness in certain areas shouldn’t matter in the long run. You might even learn that Assassins can be the sneakiest and therefore most fun to use.
